News from Holroyd Chapter

The end of this Chapter Year is fast approaching for Holroyd Chapter No.20 and preparations are already underway for our Installation Meeting on 14th October when it is anticipated Sister Sandra Ackers will be installed as our Worthy Matron and Brother Robert Reily as Worthy Patron.

Following our Biggest Morning Tea in May we were proud to forward $4,000 to the Cancer Council and at our ‘Aussie Luncheon’ in July our Worthy Matron, Sister Karla Deacon, presented a cheque for $3,000 to a representative from Autism Spectrum.

One of the highlights of this year has also been the celebration of Sister Vi Mobbs’ 90th Birthday – the photograph below does not do justice to this wonderful member who served as Secretary of Mount Beulah Chapter for 33 years as well as serving as Worthy Matron in 1974 then again twice as the Chapter proceeded into dormancy.  She has supported other Chapters enthusiastically and is a loved and respected member of Holroyd.

September will be yet another milestone for our Chapter when Sister Beryl Lyons PWDGM of Parramatta District Grand Chapter attains 70 years of service to our Order.  Beryl has served as Worthy Matron of both Mt Beulah Chapter No.5 and Ryde Chapter No.44, now both dormant.  She is currently Chaplain of Holroyd Chapter.

Holroyd Chapter has planned a full social calendar for 2017-18 along with major alterations to our hall.

Air Conditioning was installed earlier this year and now we are about to organise for our Kitchen to be renovated.  We know that this and other changes planned will add to the comfort of our members, visitors and supporters to our social functions.

Holroyd Chapter meets on 2nd Saturday of each month in OES Hall on the corner of Addlestone Road and Wayman Place, Merrylands and we look forward to welcoming all members of our beautiful Order to our meetings.
